I would say the "About Me" sections are the hardest sections to
write. What do you say about yourself?
I'M FABULOUS! Thank you very much! The End?
In a nutshell, I am one of your basic, run-of-the-mill, ex-punk snowboarding
desi engineer artist Muslimah.
My views on life are pretty simple. Life is meant to be lived. I stay true to
Allah (God), to my family, to my friends and of course to myself. I believe
that there is a reason why all of us were born, whether or not you believe it's
due to divine guidance or due to chance, there is a purpose.
I was your typical rebel without a clue during my high school years. I was finding
my own path, my own cause, by own beliefs. I believed I had the ability to change
the world.
During my senior year, multiple students were becoming ill. Some had respiratory
infections, some were continually fatigued at school, and some were experiences
severe headaches. My friends and I presented the issue multiple times to the
school board to no avail. Nothing changed. The school board did nothing to help.
We finally had it. We decided to walk out. We decided to shut the school down.
That Friday morning, we got to school and approached every student. "You
know people are getting sick, you know no one is doing anything about it, but
today you can. Walk out of school. Just leave!"
I remembering standing on the top floor of the high school, looking out onto
the front lawn and seeing no one. My heart dropped as I started down the stairs.
I figured if no one else would walk out of school and take a stand, I was at
least going to.
I walked out of the front school entrance only to see the rest of the school
standing right in front of me. Due to the view angle from the top of the school
I never saw them standing there. My heart began to race.
We had shut down the school for three days. We brought in the local government
to perform air quality test. It was determined that there were abnormal levels
of carbon monoxide because the auditorium construction.
Today I still believe I can change the world and with your help we will.
